Is there a difference between ringers with "700 R" coils and "700 Q" coils?

Hi, folks.

I have a "refurbished" Northern Electric N293 rotary dial, wood wall phone.  I just got it working last evening, but the ringer is much too quiet and I would like it to be a bit louder.

Online pictorial drawings and photos I have seen of the N293 normally show each ringer coil marked with "700 R" (which, I assume, means 700 Ω).  But mine has each coil marked with "700 Q". (See photo below.)  Is there a difference between ringers with "700 R" coils and ringers with "700 Q" coils?  The measured total series resistance of both of my phone's "700 Q" coils is just slightly more than 1.4 KΩ.

All schematics I have seen of the N293 with "700 R" ringer coils show a ringer condenser (capacitor) valued at 1 µF, so I am using two metalised polypropylene film capacitors in parallel: one is 470 nF and the other is 560 nF, for a total of (nominal) 1.03 µF (each cap is rated at 400 V).

How can I make the ringer louder?  Is there some adjustment I can make on the ringer?  Do I need to experiment with other capacitor values?  Both gongs are mounted at the center, so I cannot adjust the spacing between the gongs (such as can be done for the ringer loudness setting on a 500 set).

FYI, I have other phones that, when connected to my ATA, ring at a good volume, so there is no problem with the ATA's ringer voltage or frequency.

IIRC you can adjust the posts for the gongs to change the clearance. Under the frame where they attach there should be a screw to loosen and adjust.

I got the ringer working much better now.  It turns out that the screw terminal for one of the capacitor connections was loose.  After tightening it up, the ringer works fine.

But I still do wonder if there is any difference between ringers that have "700 R" printed on the coils, and "700 Q".
