Western Electric 250W transmitter/cup and arm/bracket: Is it a "long arm"?

Hi all-
I have a 1909-1910-version Western Electric 317-P wall phone that I plan to "reasonably" restore to working, with appropriate parts. (I have a topic for it in the "Wooden Phones" sub-forum.)

I just bought this transmitter/arm/bracket on Ebay, and I wish to know if it is likely a "long arm" as appropriate for the earlier type 317 phones, a #10 or maybe another variety? Based on rough measuring in the picture, it appears to be maybe 5.5 inches long not including the base/bracket. (The picture is from the auction; I can post others/larger ones when it arrives here.)

Thank you for any help you can give me!

IIRC it is a short arm. There are longer ones. If you search the wood phone topic I am sure you will find some. Also I believe that arm would be appropriate for your phone.

Yes, that is the correct arm for a WE Type 317 wall phone. Attached photos the early version and next version of the 317's.

Thank you, Tom. Those are both nice pictures for seeing the transmitters and arms.

One unusual thing about my 317 (that I mentioned in my other topic) is that it has the "oval" bracket (the piece attached to the phone's front panel), and it is definitely original. I forgot if I found any early (frame-style) 317 pictures with the oval bracket, but I saw a topic here in which Poplar1 did say that the ovals were common or typical on early 317s. I am -hoping- that the arm will fit my phone if I remove the rectangular bracket (that its thickness and the bolt holes will match).

I received the transmitter/arm/bracket, and it is a 250W transmitter. The inside of the mounting bracket appears to be marked 551, then W E Co below that, then a large 6 and smaller 25 below that. I found no markings on the arm itself.

Unfortunately, the arm is 5/8-inch thick where it attaches to the bracket, and my phone's existing bracket (it matches the type 3A in 1908-1912 WE catalogs, but with the oval cover) has a 3/8-inch spacing. So, my phone came with a different arm, and I need to find out what it was/needs.

The mystery is solved. I was wrong. My phone's 8A bracket is --NOT-- original as I have insisted; I looked very carefully again in good light, and my phone DID originally have a rectangular bracket (therefore matching Tom's lower picture above except for being dark walnut). Its holes were just -well- filled, color-matched, and concealed with a new coat of lacquer (or more) over the entire cabinet.

I thank each of you for your attention and comments/pictures. The transmitter and arm/bracket are exactly what this phone needs.
