Later I saw the need of some led indicators to see if line polarity changes. (Depending on the setup of the ATA)
Easy fix  :)

What happens if I go back in time?  My WWii German exchange did not fit perfectly the jack, the plugs were 1.5 millimeters to long    so I took just a little plastic, drilled a hole, and glued it on the jack.  Not universal anymore, but easy to remove.

Well, I do not have anything that not accepts DTMF anymore, so after seen a picture I decided to be a part of the moder world   DTMF pad, and not rotary.   I removed the original rotary dial, made strap where the pulse contacts were, and connected the dial to the 2 other terminals.

But fixing the new dial-pad was not easy. I am not able to get longer screws. 3/16" x 24??  but I drilled 2 holes and fixed it as you see on the picture, but first I had to remove the original connector with its metal holder, and I had to extend the wires.  When I put the dial-pad as lo as possible, I get an opening for the wires.  This is how it turned out.   :)

What may be better?
The battery will be tough to change.  (but that is not often)  This type of battery is not easy to get so an external box wit 4 AAA batteries will probably be better.  I may be better on drilling those holes, and I had to move one LED to get the space for the dial.  With longer screws and a nut on each, it would have been less trouble to get it mounted.  ;)
