Is this the right type of cord for a G1 handset?

The cord is an NOS H4CJ-3. Its grommet is a lot longer than the grommets I've seen on the cords for other G1 and G3 handsets, including two G1s made in 1966 that I have.

Also, the G1 in my pictures is different than the two 1966 G1s I have because it has the cord retaining bracket molded into it. My other G1s don't have that. Instead, the cord retaining bracket is molded into the underside of the transmitter cup, and I'm guessing that type of transmitter cup won't work with this version of a G1, because the two brackets would interfere with each other. What kind of transmitter cup do I need for this particular G1?

WE made a transmitter cup early on that had no strain relief prongs and it used either what you have in your handset or the piece you see in the picture below to hold the strain relief in place in a G3 handset. An insert cup with no prongs.

The short grommet on your handset strain relief isn't that bad looking and is much better than one that sticks out too far.

The cord grip in the handset rather that on the cup was used until the mid 1950s.  If you can't find an early cup, you could probably cut the grip off of a newer type cup.  The long strain relief was used starting in the late 1960s, so a cord with a short strain relief would be more appropriate for your phone.

Do the ones with the short grommet / strain-relief have the same part number as the one I have? When they're still sealed in their original not-always-so-clear plastic bag, you can't see much from pictures.

This is an earlier G1.  After the mid 50s, they changed to the strain relief on the bottom of the he transmitter cup.  The cord is out have is 1966 or later, but it works and fits fine.  Don't worry about it, unless you want this as a show piece.

The 4th picture I posted above is one of the seller's pictures of a phone I bought off eBay. It arrived today and in addition to the short grommet / strain-relief section, the handset cord's coils are larger in diameter than the NOS H4CJ-3 I have.

I need a new handset cord because the original one has a spot where the insulation has split apart. The phone appears to be all original since every date is 8-58 (base plate, ringer, network, dial, and shell), so I'd like to have an original looking handset cord for it in good condition. Does anyone know where I can find one, or a part number I can search for?

I'll probably use the NOS cord I already have for now, if I can ever get the transmitter cap off the original G1 handset.

Edit: Surprisingly, the transmitter cap came off easily with a little bit heat (heat gun on low from about a foot away, constantly moving; I only heated it enough to make the cap warm to the touch; didn't harm it at all). It wouldn't budge before I heated it, not even with a strap wrench. The transmitter and receiver elements are both dated 8-58 too. Unfortunately, I doubt the transmitter is any good, since I barely can hear the carbon granules moving when I shake it, even though I've smacked it against the palm of my hand quite a few times. I haven't tested it yet though.
