DIY Volume cam replacement w 1/8" rubbwr

Dear Poplar1 and CRPF:

Recently, I've had the old white volume cams, break, so I looked for a way to replace those.

The old black rubber cams from WE E1A's gave me the idea...taking 1/8" thickness sheet rubber and a E1C volume cam, I made an outline on it and cut the new cam.

I'll add the pics here.

These were hand made, but should make good replacements.

The basic steps were:

1.Drill out the rivet head until you have a hole down the shaft that mounts the gong of 6/32" diameter

2. Use a 6/32" thread tap to make the threads.

3. Keep the washers that you remove.

4. Using the newly cut  out cam, fit it over the shaft and make sure it can move freely..

5. Replace the washers and install the screw; if needed be add a additional washer.  Align the cam while the volume lever is set to low, then tighten the screw.

6. Move the control to see that it moves to the loud, low and off positions.
