What stripping agents are safe on Bakelite?

I always use 3M "Safest Stripper".  It works quickly, and it hasn't harmed any bakelite yet.  It will dissolve tenite though.

Almost nothing will hurt real bakelite. As Larry says, plastics of any sort is a whole 'nuther issue.

Citri-Strip did not damage my WE hard rubber receiver cap after 1/2 hour, did no damage to bakelite cap, melted the ABS.

Klean-Strip premium seems to not hurt bakelite. I just finished stripping several brushed-on layers of paint from a black bakelite Zenith radio case, and it did no harm of any kind, even after the multiple applications necessary to get all the paint off.
