How was the spool of ere and the phone related to the truck box? Just the same owner?

I wonder if tat wire is what I have heard guys who worked for Bell years ago called "pre wire"? Apparently used at some point to prewire new homes it was un-jacketed and was snaked loosely through the walls with the idea that if a telephone location was wanted somewhere in the future it could supposedly be snagged and a pair used for a phone outlet. Always sounded pretty hit and mis to me. You could put a hole in the wall and then discover that there wasn't even wire in that wall. But, I don't know the exact details of how it was installed.

Hi Terry:

Apparently the spool was in the truck, and although I don't know where they found the phone, it did belong to Gary's father along with the truck back.....

Too bad you couldn't get the truck for the box, it would look cool in front of your museum.

Hi Ben:

Couldn't agree with you more, i.e. about the truck  :)

The box will hold my huge collection of 1930s installation tools, climbers and belts, etc., and free up a bit of space inside the museum. It will be re-painted and placed outside the museum (locked, of course). I will have to unlock it to show people the 1930s tools.

I have produced a PDF file showing the full chart, clarified as much as possible from the photos I have so far. You can increase the size while viewing so it can be read comfortably... Attached below.

A couple of photos of the LIU (Line Installation Series) truck with the same type back installed as it would have been in the 30s may be viewed on:
