How do you take apart a Crosley reproduction handset?

I recently installed a contemporary Crosley reproduction wall mount phone purchased at a yard sale.

The phone works, but with two problems in the handset. Sound in the earpiece crackles intermittently and the speaker rattles inside the handset. I'd like to take the handset apart to see what's going on in there.

Disassembly is not straightforward. There are two screws in the handle, but after removing them, nothing comes apart. It appears that the round covers over the microphone and speaker are parts that should come off. Can anyone out there offer suggestions for taking the handset apart without breaking anything?

Fist off, Hi Dan and welcome to the forum.
As to your question, do you have any pictures? I am not familiar with Crosley products and I am not sure how many here are. Pictures may help or you may find it is glued together. If you do add some pictures include some of the seams.

My experience with cheap Chinese products like that is that things are often glued together.  Assembly is designed to be fast and cheap.
