I have an H3AG cord dated I 57, one monthquarter beyond the range.
I can confirm the lower bound of 1952.

That 1957 date for an H3AG cord is plausible. It was superseded by the vinyl-jacketed H3AJ straight cord. Here is what I stated in another topic:
By 1952,  new black 302s were equipped with  straight neoprene-jacketed cords with rubber conductors. They were coded D3AY for the mounting (line) cord and H3AG for the handset cord. These new cords were also used on remanufactured 302s.

Rubber cords were available starting in 1938, but in very limited use. After the war, neoprene was used instead of rubber.  Black Vinyl-jacketed cords weren't produced until c. 1958.

All that agrees with my observations.
The H3AD is, I think, a rubber cord, but I find it hard to distinguish rubber at this time from the early Neoprene. I think one can tell by their thickness. Neoprene is thinner.   The H3AD is much thicker than the H3AG.
It seems to me, H3AD was only used in refurbishments starting in 1948 until the H3AG arrived, although my last H3AD cord is only dated III 50 (you have IV 50).
So were are still missing the period of 1951 for straight black cords.

Someone who has a bucket full of S-hook restraints salvaged from junk cords could really help us out here with the dates. But the H3AD cords are rarely defective. They have extra cotton wrapped around the conductors. The H3AF spring cords are almost always noisy.

What is the oldest date that anyone has seen a 95A apparatus blank on a 500 set?

In 1952,  500 and 501 type sets were redesignated as A/B sets and similarly 500T and 501T sets became J/K sets (e.g.: http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=15756.msg165008#msg165008).

Prior to 1952 there is probably no way to determine whether a set was actually issued with a blank as a manual phone.

hmmm.   probably this phone:  http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=9704.msg103721#msg103721   But there is no way to be sure that the dial blank was original.

I've read about early 500 sets being found with GF handsets.  What reason would there be for this?

The GF handset was not created until 1955 to make a 5302 set look like a 500-type, while providing the same zoning compatibility with the old 300-series set.

Then it would probably be a replacement for a broken or defective G-1 handset, perhaps.

Do you want to add an H3T handset cord, found on 302?

H3T    II 54     cloth, brown -9

I don't know of other colors, have no BSP guidance on this.  C36.101 i13 5505 only lists the H4T in brown and colors, so H3T probably was available in colors too.

As stated in 2.01 (c), the letters have no particular significance; i. e., the choice of T for H3T doesn't imply that it would share any characteristics -- such as availabity of jacket colors -- with the H4T. Notice that the H3AD and H4AD do not share the same jacket material. Also, while some cotton jacketed cords are available in colors, such as H3C, others are not (H4U).

I picked up this 1953 WE 500 with matching numbers. I hope the pictures help with filling in the date ranges.

It would help to know the code no. and date on the cords (it's on the restraints).
Handset cord -- H4BA? H4BF?
Mounting cord -- D3BB?

I took the phone apart again, here is what I found.

Handset cord is a 53 H3BF IV

Mounting cord is a 57 D3BB 25-0

I guess it's not all matching numbers.
