Northern Electric 20-PC candlestick
« on: April 19, 2012, 03:27:50 PM »
Picked this up from Ebay, and it arrived today.  Polished up real nice and thought I would post a couple pictures.  Matching ringer box, and marked 143 receiver.  I was expecting a 229 or 329 transmitter, but it appears to be a 337.  For some reason these Northern candlesticks seem to go for pretty good money.

Do you you have a close up pic of the receiver, I'm curious to see the marking.
Otherwise how do you tell which is a 144 and which is a 143, they look alike to me.

The receiver has that collar where the cord enters the receiver, that's only on the 143.  Then the cap is marked 143.

Thank You.
I wonder if Western Electric is the same.

Yes, WE is the same - however, WE marks the backside of the receiver cap instead of the front like this Northern.  Also, I think the WE would have the patent dates on the end of the receiver around the collar.

I take that back - We caps are marked on the front and the back of the cap.  Here's a picture of some different 143 shells.
