I have had this forever, looks like a mechanical compass, but I was told it was for Payphone Booth installation.

Corner Bisector one on side.....Pull on Corder- Feet. Moves with no issue as it should. NO RUST!

Nickel is in very good shape as is the Leather pouch it comes in. Leather Puch is 9 " across and 5" top to bottom...tool extends to 12"

Harry...I have kept it so long because it is just so cool looking. It found its way into a closet so it is time for someone else to enjoy!

The company is till in business today, GMP. They have a page about their history including some old catalog pages. I found this tool in the 1949 catalog on page 11. Nothing to do with pay phones, it is a Pull Finder, used to mount guy wires to poles.
